타이동 선 (Taitung Line Taiwan Railways, 台鐵 台東線 )
The central portion of the main line running along the east coast from Hualien to Taitung, the Taitung Line services stations between Hualien and Taitung via the East Rift Valley, with many trains providing through service to Taipei via the North Link Line and Yilan Line.
North of Hualien Station, the Taitung Line connects to the North Link Line. South of Taitung Station, the Taitung Line connects to the Pingtung - South Link Line.
Trains traveling along the Taitung Line section of the main line have varying destinations with through service on connecting lines. Many trains heading north to Taipei terminate after Taipei Main Station at Shulin Station. Trains may also travel south to Kaohsiung or back around to Taichung.
Popular destinations along this line include the East Rift Valley, hot springs at Ruisui, Luye village and hot air balloon park, and the Chishang area.
