Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall Station (中正紀念堂站 )

Introduction

A transfer station between the Green and Red lines of the Taipei Metro, CKS Memorial Hall Station is located at the southern edge of what is considered the core downtown area, before the boundary into the university and residential Guting and Gongguan areas. The station is at the western edge of the triangle-shaped transfer system between the Green, Red, and Orange lines.

Outside of the station area is Liberty Square and the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall museum and entertainment complex. The complex includes a famous statue of Chiang, a former unelected president whose legacy is being reexamined within the context of modern Taiwan, and a museum dedicated to his life and rule of the Republic of China, as well as opera houses and theaters, as well as a large public meeting space which has been named "Liberty Square" in honor of Taiwan's accomplishment in achieving a democratic society.
